On January 29, the Harris County Commissioners Court voted 5 to 0 to schedule a public hearing for March 19 on Harris Health’s request to acquire a small, undeveloped part of Hermann Park to build a much-needed expansion of Ben Taub Hospital.
Congratulations to the Commissioners Court, Harris Health and the Hermann Park Conservancy for their work to enable this first step.
What is ahead
Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Mayor John Whitmire worked with Harris Health and the Hermann Park Conservancy to develop a potential “win-win” solution that will allow Ben Taub to expand and ultimately to rebuild on this land, and will provide Hermann Park with a much-needed parking garage on City owned land. The outlines of this plan have been identified, but hard decisions remain and funding is always an issue.
On March 19 th , the Commissioners Court will hold a public hearing and make a final decision. We need to demonstrate our support for this potential “win-win” solution that will improve both access to critical health care and access to Hermann Park. Please sign the petition below to show your support for the Court to make a “win-win” decision for Ben Taub and Hermann Park.
